GALATA is the up-and-coming part of Istanbul, the 'old town', with many historic buildings. It is fifteen minutes by taxi and ten minutes on the Metro (over the Golden Horn) to the Byzantine area of Sultanahmet. It is near enough to be convenient, but far enough away to avoid the touristic hassle.
The wider area of Beyoglu was called Pera in Ottoman times, a name that is gradually coming back into use. It is the area for finding back street café-bars and restaurants used by the locals. It is also the area for theatres, music, art galleries and culture.

The flat is less than five minutes walk from İstiklâl Cad. (originally the Grande Rue de Pera) and about fifteen minutes from Taksim Square, which is considered the centre of Istanbul

Istanbul's Airports

Atatürk Airport (IST) is on the European side of Istanbul, approximately  12 miles (20 km) from the flat.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) is located on the Asian side and approximately 30 miles (50 km) away.

Airport Pickup can be arranged at 25 Euros from Ataturk Airport (IST) and 50 Euros from Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW)

If you are making your own way take the airport bus to Taksim. Take a taxi from Taksim, but then it gets a bit difficult the first time until you know it, as the house is in the old town with narrow streets. You can be met at Taksim. More details on reservation.
